Hurricanes make history again at Bobcat Invitational

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — Freshman Allie Brown continued her fantastic season as she led the Georgia Southwestern State University women's cross country team and helped the Hurricanes finish sixth out of 13 schools at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College on Saturday morning.

Brown, who finished 11th overall out of 92 runners, paced the Lady Hurricanes by completing the 5K course in 20:24.4. Junior Sarah Earley crossed the finish line second for GSW on Saturday with a time of 21:37.2, good for 27th place. Angel Jarvis and Megan Strickland finished back to back to take 42nd and 43rd place, respectively. Rounding out our top five runners was senior Maddie Toth, who finished 50th just 7 spots behind Jarvis and Strickland. Brianna Zupko finished the race for Georgia Southwestern as she took 65th place with a time of 23:33.8. 

North Georgia won the event as the Nighthawks had eight runners finish in the top ten and earned a cumulative score of 20 points to comfortably separate from runner-up Columbus State (59 points). Columbus State runner Macey Voorhies crossed the line first overall with a time of 19:03.0.

The Lady Hurricanes return to action on Oct. 23 at the Peach Belt Conference Championships.
