Coombs was named the Associate Director of Athletics at Georgia Southwestern in September 2021 after serving as the department's development officer during the 2020-21 school year. In her new role she will be responsible for the institutional compliance of all NCAA and Peach Belt Conference rules and regulations as it pertains to coaches, staff, student-athletes, institutional faculty/staff and athletics alumni/boosters. In addition, she will continue to oversee and manage the corporate parnership program and department fundraising efforts.

Prior to arriving in Americus, Coombs served as the Head Volleyball Coach and Compliance Coordinator at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 2018. She culminated the 2018 season accruing the highest number of wins in OPSU recorded history and reached the post-season for the first time to compete in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

In 2016, Coombs was named the Director of Academic Services for Athletics at Missouri Western State University. In 2018, she was named Assistant Athletic Director, served as Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), sport supervisor of men’s and women’s cross country and track and field and women’s volleyball, and interim compliance director. Prior to those roles, she was as an assistant coach at MWSU for three years, while earning her Master’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management. Within her first two years at MWSU, the team celebrated back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in roughly two decades, and posted their first winning season within the MIAA conference since 2000. During her tenure as an assistant, at least four Griffons were named All-MIAA each season, two were Academic All-American selections, and one was named AVCA First Team All-American.

Coombs began her collegiate coaching career at the NCAA Division ll level, Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2012, where her team earned the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division title with five players earning All-Conference honors. The team maintained a cumulative team grade point average of 3.5.

Coombs coached the Iowa Rockets volleyball club for five seasons (2007-11) and led the 16 and under team to the Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) national championship in 2011.

A graduate of the University of Iowa, Coombs competed for the Hawkeyes as a member of the NCAA Division I Volleyball program and was an Academic-All Big Ten selection.

Signe and husband, Aaron Coombs, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Georgia Southwestern, reside in Americus with their two daughters.
