Hurricanes Walk-Off Albany State for Midweek Win

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern baseball team defeated Albany State in a midweek non-conference matchup on Tuesday night. The Hurricanes trailed early in the contest before holding Albany State to zero runs in the last eight innings of the game.

Albany State jumped out to a three-run lead in the second inning but the Hurricanes answered in the bottom half to bring the deficit down to two runs. They added another run in the bottom of the third before both teams' pitching brought the scoring to a halt. Georgia Southwestern added the tying run in the bottom of the sixth. The Hurricanes brought in Carsen Plumadore who shut down the Ram offense striking out five in just three innings of work allowing no hits or runs and just one walk. After nothing in the bottom of the ninth, Colby Gordon worked out of a jam to get the Hurricanes up to bat for the bottom of the tenth with a chance to win the game. Miles Hartsfield was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, Hartsfield stole second with one out and Anthony Angelino singled up the middle for his second hit of the game, Miles Hartsfield slid into home before the throw could get to the catcher and GSW ended their midweek woes getting their first midweek win of the season.

The Hurricanes will hope to keep the momentum going when they take on Flagler College for a Peach Belt Conference series starting on Thursday.
