Hurricanes Win Fifth Straight, Run Rule Shorter

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern (23-23) defeated Shorter University (24-18) in their final non-conference game of the season. The two schools previously met earlier this season, with Shorter University getting the victory at home in the first contest. The second contest was all GSW however, the Hurricanes scored eight runs in the first two innings to take a commanding eight-run lead, pushing it to a nine-run advantage after driving in one run in the third. Dalton Cameron held the Shorter bats to just two hits and no runs in six innings of pitching, Shorter University used six pitchers on the night with the starter only getting one out in the first before needing relief.

The Hurricanes continued their five-game winning streak and seem to be heating up offensively after scoring 19 runs the night before in a midweek contest versus Albany State. They have one more weekend series before postseason play begins in the Peach Belt Conference, a series win in their final series against Young Harris College would secure a spot hosting the first-round series in the Peach Belt Conference tournament.
