Flagler Sinks 15 From Deep to Beat GSW

AMERICUS, Ga. – Georgia Southwestern State University senior guard Devon Higgs recorded his first double-double of the season in a losing effort as Flagler College defeated GSW, 83-72, in the Storm Dome on Wednesday evening. Phillip Burwell finished as the Hurricanes top scorer with a career high in points (18) while adding seven assists. 

Brian Tolefree had his best night as a Hurricane with a season-high 15 points behind 6 of 8 shooting.

Georgia Southwestern drops to 7-6 on the season and 1-4 in Peach Belt Conference play. 

Inside the Storm

  • Flagler made more 3-pointers (15) than two-point baskets (10)
  • There were five ties and eight lead changes in the game
  • GSW held its largest lead (36-32) with 19:35 remaining

Georgia Southwestern will go on the road to face USC Aiken (11-4, 4-1 PBC) for the second half of their two-game season series. The Pacers defeated the Hurricanes, 67-54, in the Storm Dome on Dec. 12. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
