GSW Golf Announces Fall Golf Schedule

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The 2020 fall schedule for Georgia Southwestern State University men's golf team has been released by ninth-year head coach Darcy Donaldson as it features two tournaments to be played in October. After the spring 2020 season was cut short due to Covid-19, these tournaments mark the first time the men's golf team will have competed since March.

"We are very fortunate that we are able to play during this time," Donaldson states. "Although not every conference or team is playing, we are excited to get on the road and back to some sort of normalcy."

The Hurricanes will be competing as individuals as All-American Saksit Jairak leads the way along with Chase McLain and freshman Payne Sells

GSW will begin the fall season competing in the Camden Collegiate, October 5-6; which will be hosted by Limestone University at the Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. They will play 36 holes on Monday followed by the remaining 18 holes played on Tuesday.

Three weeks later, the Hurricanes will travel to Gainesville, Ga., October 26-27 to compete in the 7th Annual UNG Fall Invitational. Hosted by North Georgia, the two-day event will be played at the Chattahoochee Golf Club. GSW most recently placed third at the 2017 UNG Fall Invitational. They placed 4th in 2015 while finishing runner-up in 2014.

The Hurricanes are coming off one of their most decorated seasons yet, finishing the season as the No. 1 NCAA DII golf team. Donaldson was crowned as the 2019-20 Dave Williams National Coach of the Year as he returns three players from last year's team in Jairak, Simon Estrada and McLain. Both Jairak and Estrada were named 2020 PING All-Americans. They were also named to the 2020 PING All-Southeast Region team while making their way onto the 2019-20 Peach Belt All-Conference team. They finished the season ranked 12th and 43rd, respectively, in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat.
