AMERICUS, Ga. -- The ninth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a final round total of 284 to finish in sixth place on Tuesday at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College. As a team, the Hurricanes finished 4-over on the day. The 15-team tournament played at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee in Eatonton, Ga. features ten programs that are in the nation's top-25, including No. 1 Barry. No. 2 USC Aiken, No. 4 Lincoln Memorial University, No. 7 University of North Georgia, No. 12 University of West Florida, No. 13 Lander University, No. 15 Columbus State University, No. 16 Florida Southern College and No. 17 Saint Leo University.
Chase McLain led the Hurricanes with rounds of 71 and 69 and 70 for his three rounds to finish tied for fourth place on Tuesday. McClain was 2-under until a double bogey on the 17th hole brought him back to even for the round on Tuesday finishing at 1-over for the day.
Erik Fogel and Nicolas Escobar finished second on the team tied for 16th place for the tournament. In the opening round Erik Fogel shot 70 with a second round of 72 in the afternoon and finished his tournament with a final round of 72 on Tuesday. Nicolas Escobar finished with a second round of 71 and a third round of 70. Jack Tharrington finished tied for 37th after posting a 72 in the final round on Tuesday. Alex Wells carded a 74 in both rounds on the Monday and a 73 on Tuesday to round out the Hurricanes lineup.
Barry won the event with a 3-over par, 843. Lander was second (+9, 489) while Florida Southern took third (+11, 851). West Florida and Clayton State tied for fourth.
The Hurricanes will head to Pensacola Country Club on April 4, to play in the Argonaut Inivitational hosted by West Florida.
