ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — The 10th-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a final round total of 283 to finish tied for fourth place on Sunday at the Peach Belt Conference Championships at Sea Palms Resort in St. Simons Island, Ga. As a team, the Hurricanes finished 1-under on the day after finishing 11-over in the second round.
The field featured seven ranked teams out of the nine Peach Belt schools including No. 6 USC Aiken, No. 8 North Georgia, No. 10 GSW, No. 11 Lander University, No. 19 Columbus State, No. 26 Clayton State and No. 35 Flagler College.
Simon Estrada and Erik Fogel led the Hurricanes for the event shooting 214 for their three rounds to tie for tenth place. Estrada posted three birdies but three bogeys in his final round of the event on Sunday while Erik Fogel had four birdies and two bogeys on Sunday.
Nicolas Escobar finished second on the team after the final round shooting 70 after his second round of 73 on Saturday to finish in tied for 16th place in the standings. Chase McLain finished at 221 for the three rounds good enough to be tied for 26th overall. Alex Wells finished the day out for the Hurricanes shooting a 75 in the final round finishing tied for 36th place.
Columbus State finished with a three-round total of 855, one stroke ahead of Flagler in second and five ahead of North Georgia. The title is the first for Columbus State since 2016 and their seventh conference title in program history. Lander’s Maxime Legros fired a 67 on Sunday to capture PBC individual champion honors.
