Greenwood, S.C. - On a team filled with youth, the freshman threesome of Michael Corrigan, Charlie Curran and Pablo Lajeunesse led the way for the Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team but a hat trick from Lander's Chris Hobbs was too much as the Hurricanes eventually succombed to the Lander Bearcats 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Jeff May Field.

Lander got on the board early in the first half as Timm Hocke scored 9:34 into the game. GSW came right back as freshman forward Charlie Curran's first career goal tied the game off of a pass from fellow freshman Pablo Lajeunesse in the 11th minute.

Hobbs first goal of the night came just one minute later in the 12th minute as he scored off of an assist from Russell Parker to put the Bearcats back up, 2-1.

Corrigan came back to tie the game, 2-2, late in the first half off of a penalty kick in the 41st minute.

Hobbs punched in his second goal of the afternoon in the 60th minute of the second half to break the tie, only to watch Corrigan even up the contest, 3-3, as he scored his second goal of the day off of an assist from Lajuenesse.

Hobbs hat trick goal in the 78th minute ended up being the game winner as Lander prevailed 4-3.

Corrigan's two goals on the day took his total season goals scored to five. He is now second in the conference for goals scored.  Lajeunesse recored his first career assists as he had two on the day. Overall, Lander outshot GSW 24-7 and held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.

GSW falls to 1-4-1 on the season and Lander improves to 4-1. The 'Canes are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 19, as they travel to Georgia Gwinnett for a 7 p.m. match.
