Pair of Second Half Goals Doom GSW

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern men's soccer team hit the road Wednesday night looking to right the ship as the Hurricanes traveled to Alabama to take on the Montevallo Falcons Wednesday in Peach Belt Conference action.

A sputtering offense and a pair of second half goals proved to be too much as GSW dropped their eighth consecutive match as Montevallo prevailed, 2-0.

After a scoreless first half, the Falcons broke the stalemate six minutes into the second half as Jackson Tolleson scored off a pass from Shane Howard.

A late goal in the 88th minute by Pierre Omanga put the finishing touches on the night as the Falcons improved to 8-3-1 on the season, 5-1-1 in the Peach Belt.

The Falcons held a commanding 10-0 shots on goal advantage on the night as the Hurricanes were shut out for the third consecutive match. Sophomore GSW goalkeeper Garrett Blamire was credited with eight saves on the night.

Georgia Southwestern falls to 1-10-1, and 0-6 in the Peach Belt Conference. The 'Canes return to the pitch this Saturday as they continue their Peach Belt conference road trip with a stop at conference newcomer Young Harris College for a 1 p.m. match.
