AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team surrendered a pair of goals in the opening 16 minutes and despite a late flurry of offense, could not catch Middle Georgia State University in a 2-1 loss at Hurricane Field on Wednesday evening.

GSW saw its two-match winning streak snapped an fell to 2-2-1 overall while Middle Georgia picked up its first win of the season to improve to 1-5-1.  

Kyle Jordaan accounted for both Middle Georgia scores, the first coming in the 12th minute, as he doubled his goal tally for the year to four. He followed the opening goal with a strike less than four minutes later off an assist from John Crawley. 

From there it was a couple of close calls for both sides peppered in over the next 71 minutes until Dylan Marshall broke through for his third goal of the season when he followed up his own rebound off the keeper at the start of the 87th minute and pulled GSW within a score. Both sides finished with two team saves as defenders along the goal line had to clear the ball while coming to the aid of their beaten goalkeepers. Both of the Hurricanes near scores came in the second half (53', 82') off shot attempts by Marshall. GSW collected four shots on goal in the final nine minutes, but could only manage the one score.  

The Hurricanes finished with a 16-10 shots on goal advantage, a 5-3 edge in corner kicks and were whistled for three more fouls, 10-7.
