Crawford Era Begins With a Win

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University men's soccer team opened its 2019 season with a 2-1 victory over Brewton-Parker College Thursday night at Hurricane Field in the first match under new head coach Eric Crawford.

GSW struck first when Bryan Zuniga found the back of the in the 11th minute off a flicked lead pass off the heel of teammate Kellan O'Hara. Zuniga split two defenders with a low line drive shot with his left foot that stayed inside the left post.

Alex Macias tied up the match in the 37th minute for Brewton-Parker on a quick punch in front of an empty goal.  

Zuniga delivered the game winner in the 56th minute when he converted a penalty kick. 

Georgia Southwestern outshot Brewton-Parker by a 15-10 mark and took 10 corners to Brewton-Parkers's three.

Zuniga led all players with eight shots. Newcomers O'Hara and Raschaad Buchanan each took two shots for the Hurricanes. Goalkeeper Oneil Lewis made four saves in his GSW debut.
