USC Aiken Shows No Love To GSW Tennis

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams dropped a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. Both GSW teams lost 9-0.

The GSW men watch their overall record drop to 2-3 and start the PBC campaign 0-1. USC Aiken improved to 2-3, 1-1 in the PBC.

The Lady Hurricanes fall to 2-4 overall, 0-2 in the PBC while USCA improved to 4-1, 2-0 in PBC play.

Both GSW programs host Lander on Sunday at noon.

USC AIKEN 9, GSW MEN 0

The Hurricanes best showing in the opening doubles matches came at the No. 2 position where Abel Acuna-Moreno and Oliver Marshall lost 8-4 to the USCA team of Andy Quirk and Mathias Degardin.

Marshall had a tight match in singles play as well. He forced a tiebreaker to decide the match at No. 2 singles, but lost to Julien Tan, 6-4, 6-7, 10-5.

USC AIEKN 9, GSW WOMEN 0

On the women's side, Anneliese Leahy had the best match of the afternoon for GSW. Leahy came up just short at No. 5 singles where she lost to Oliver Veskovac, 7-6, 6-4. Sydnee Smith narrowly missed out on a third set for the Lady Hurricanes as she lost 6-1, 7-6 at No. 2 singles against Sarah Bernos.
