Tierce Named Peach Belt Player Of The Week

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University junior infielder Hayley Tierce has been named the Peach Belt Conference softball player of the week in a release announced by the league Monday.

The Lady Canes all-time home run leader hit five homers and drove in 12 runs while batting .429 with a 1.000 slugging percentage in eight games as GSW went 4-0 in Peach Belt play.

Tierce is currently tied for the Peach Belt lead in home runs with 12 and has hit 40 in her career with the Lady Canes. She leads the team this season in home runs, runs batted in (39), batting average (.347), slugging percentage (.786) and hits (34).

Hitting from the third spot in the batting order Tierce hit her second grand slam of the season on March 21 at West Georgia and hit a 3-run shot in a 7-1 win over USC Aiken on March 24.

This is the third Peach Belt player of the week award for Tierce at GSW after she won freshman of the week twice in 2016. Tierce has accounted for five of the Lady Canes 10 PBC weekly awards in program history.
