DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern softball team was swept in a doubleheader by No. 3 North Georgia Saturday afternoon inside Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium. GSW was blanked as UNG put up eight scores in both games.  

Game 1: GSW 0, UNG 8 (5 innings)

UNG started things early in the bottom of the first when Hobby Gregory was walked. At second base, she stole third and kept running to cross home plate as she advanced on one of the two errors by GSW, giving them a 1-0 lead. They followed up with scoring five more runs in the bottom of the third. Their second score of the game came off a throwing error by Chloe Zoeller followed by a wild pitch, that pushed another Nighthawk across the plate. A right-field single gave Shelby Hammontree two RBIs followed by a double by Cheyanne Mosteller into left field for one RBI to make the score 6-0. 

In the bottom of the fifth with runners in scoring position, a two-run single down the left line lifted the Nighthawks for the Game 1 win. Shannon Gibson and Hayley Dickerson shared the circle, giving up eight runs off 10 hits while striking out five total batters. Gibson picked up the loss through three innings pitched. 

Game 2: GSW 0, UNG 8 (6 innings)

A single by Kayla Kerr in the top of the first gave GSW (22-18, 6-4 PBC) their first hit of the day but she was left on base as Hayley Tierce was put out when she fouled out to first base to close the top. A three-run triple in the right field by UNG gave them a 3-0 lead to end the first inning. The Nighthawks returned in the bottom of the second, scoring four more runs to push the game to 7-0. 

In the top of the fifth inning, Briana Bryson doubled down the right field line as she put the Lady Canes in scoring position. Bryson was then advanced to third when Chloe Zoeller successfully bunted and reached first base. Zoeller advanced to second when Kerr grounded out to third base for GSW's second out of the day. The inning ended with Tierce, as she lined out to third base. In the bottom of the sixth, UNG (34-8, 11-1 PBC) scored on a wild pitch to end the game. Dickerson picked up the loss, pitching one inning but giving up seven runs on six hits while striking out one Nighthawk.
