AMERICUS, Ga. -- Junior forward Mariya Trimble and the Lady Canes are traveling to St. Augustine, Fla., for their season opener as they will compete in the Southeast Region Crossover. Hosted by Flagler University, the tournament consists of GSW, Limestone College and Lincoln Memorial. 

GSW will play Limestone on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. right after host Flagler jump start the tournament with a 5:30 p.m. game against Lincoln Memorial. On Day two, the Lady Canes will begin play with a 2 p.m. game against Lincoln Memorial followed by Flagler vs. Limestone at 4 p.m.

The Lady Canes return six players from last seasons 8-18 squad, including Trimble, who led the team with 10.6 points and 6.8 boards per game. GSW returns junior guard Tamecia Blue who led the team with 1.6 steals per game last season along with senior forward Adrianne Brown, guard Kris Beckham and sophomore forward Tyra Smith and guard Kya Cochran.

GSW finished last season 8-18 while averaging 64.4 points, 40.9 rebounds and 13 assists per game. The Lady Canes were picked 10th in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll, which was released last week.
