Lady Canes Sweep Through PBC/SIAC Challenge

ALBANY, Ga. -- The Lady Canes scored over 20 points in three of four quarters in tonight's game against Fort Valley State to finish the PBC/SIAC Challenge undefeated, winning 84-64. A strong defense by GSW held the Wildcats to only 10 points in the third quarter. 

How It Happened: GSW (3-1) started early and finished strong as Morgan Towells led the way with another great performance. She posted a team high 14 points, along with four rebounds and two steals. 

The Lady Canes shot 29-77 (37.7%) from the field but both squads went 5-18 from the 3-point line, shooting 27.8%. The Wildcats (0-5) out rebounded the Lady Canes by one (54-53) but GSW scored 33 points off FVSU's 25 turnovers that they made tonight. 

GSW had 11 steals and 10 blocks, as Kayla Smith led on the defensive end - accrediting six blocks for herself to pair with her eight rebounds.

Who Stood Out: Five Lady Canes scored in double-digits tonight as Towells led the way. Lele Young (13 points, 5 rebounds), Mariya Trimble (11 points, 3 rebounds), Lex Chatman (11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) and Kya Cochran (10 points, 2 steals) all brought brooms out as they swept the tournament. 

Up Next: The Lady Canes travels to Tuskegee, Ala., Nov. 28 to play Tuskegee University for a 6:30 p.m. start.
