Payne Named NCAA DII Coach of the Week

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University women's head basketball coach Justin Payne has been named the WHoopDirt.com NCAA Division II Coach of the Week. It's the third time during his career Payne has received the honor.

The 10th-ranked Lady Hurricanes have won 11 straight games, are 8-0 at home on the season and sit alone atop the Peach Belt Conference standings at 6-0. Last week, GSW won 67-52 at home against Flagler College and 75-72 at USC Aiken to hand the Pacers their first loss in the Convocation Center since the opening weekend of the season (Nov. 13).

Payne is the only PBC head coach to receive the WHoopDirt.com recognition through 10 weeks this season. He is now eligible to receive the WHoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2022-23 college basketball season.
