Late goals lead Lander past GSW, 2-0

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team kept Lander University's offense at bay for 75 minutes on Saturday afternoon at Hurricane Field, but the Lady 'Canes were unable to pitch a shutout as the Lady Bearcats scored a pair of late goals and defeated GSW, 2-0.

Lander (11-2-1, 4-2-1 PBC) broke up the scoreless affair when Christina Barbour tallied her seventh goal of the season, a shot to the far post from nine yards out, at 75:56.

Lara Middlebrook made it 2-0 for LU at 88:46 when she scored her second goal of the season on a deflected cross from Barbour.

The Lady Bearcats outshot GSW, 11-1, and led in corner kicks, 9-0.

Amber Bahri totaled four saves for the Lady 'Canes.

The Blue & Gold (3-11, 0-5 PBC) look to snap a seven-match losing streak when they travel to No. 11 North Georgia on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest.
