Patriots Slide Past Lady Canes in Florence

FLORENCE, S.C. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team gave Francis Marion a battle before falling 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match at Hartzler Field Saturday.

The Lady Canes (0-13-0, 0-8-0 PBC) were able to keep FMU off the board until the 31st minute when Megan Misuraca found the back of the net on a free kick, giving the Patriots their first advantage.

Francis Marion (5-8-0, 2-7-0 PBC) added two second half goals from Kylie McElroy in the 54th and 82nd minutes to complete the scoring and put the game out of reach for GSW.

Lady Canes goalkeeper Sammie Conley recorded five saves to add to her total of 123 on the season.

Ella Hawkins, Bri Reda, Mercedes Benites and Shatyriah Crawford each recorded a shot for Georgia Southwestern, but weren't able to get one past Patriots goalkeeper Janine Gordon who won her fourth match of the season.

Up Next: GSW returns home to Hurricane Field for the penultimate match of the season Wednesday with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. against Young Harris.
