Lady Canes Lose Battle Against Knights

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team lost a tough battle tonight under the lights by way of 3-0 to the visiting Middle Georgia State. 

Alison Rugel led the Lady Canes with three shots on goal tonight, followed by Alisa Barr with two as they both couldn't sneak anything pass the Knights. 

MGA (3-3-1) went up early in the 14th minute of play, as Hannah Theriault went unassisted for her first goal of the night to put the Knights up 1-0. Both teams battled strong during the rest of the half but neither team was able to get on the board. 

In the second half, Theriault scored again for the Knights by way of a GSW player, as her kick was deflected off a GSW player's chest into the net for their second score of the game in the in the 58th minute. MGA showed no mercy as Maria Garcia put MGA on the board for a third time in the 62nd minute, going up 3-0. 

Although both squads had a total of 11 shots, MGA led with seven shots on goal compared to GSW's five shots on goal. MGA also led with more saves (5-4) and more corner kicks (6-3) then GSW.
