GSW Drops Contest to USC Aiken

AMERICUS, Ga. -- In what one would've thought to be a close game, the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team gave up seven goals to USC Aiken, handing them their first Peach Belt Conference win of the season tonight on a muddy Hurricane Field. 

Brenna Mendonca led the Lady Canes (2-13, 0-9 PBC) with four shots and one shot on goal that hit the crossbar early in the first half. Leila Hamed had three on goal shots followed by Shyla Stoops's two. Eduarda Giusti took three shots along with Hamed and Stoops. 

USC Aiken's (3-10, 1-7 PBC) Willa Olsen led the Pacers with two first half goals and an assist. Her twin, Gressa Olsen, added one goal assisted by her sister, as Gressa led the team with three assists. The Pacers had an assist for every goal scored tonight. 

The Pacers out shot the Lady Canes 26-15 while also taking a 16-8 shot on goal advantage. USC Aiken also had a 6-3 lead with corner kicks over GSW, who had 9 total saves compared to USC Aiken's 8.
