Lady Canes Make History in Win over Young Harris

AMERICUS, Ga. — The Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team defeated Young Harris College 1-0 Saturday night in double overtime to break and tie multple records and write their names all over the program's record book.

Grace O'Shaugnessy had eight saves on the day and the defense held strong facing an onslaught of shots from the Mountain Lion offense. The defensive battle came to a thrilling end in the 106th minute when Drea Singleton, off a pass from Geraldine Alvarez, put one to the right of the keeper to give the Lady Canes their first Peach Belt Conference win in 11 years.

The Drea Singleton goal ended the 11 year drought and also gave the Lady Canes their first win over Young Harris College in the program's history. The win was GSW's fifth overall victory this season, and have now tied the record for most wins in school history.

The Lady Canes will try to break the record for wins in a season Wednesday at home against Edward Waters at 7 p.m.
