AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams dropped a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Lander on Sunday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. Victoria Ondo picked up the lone team point for GSW with a win at No. 3 singles on the women's side. The Lady Hurricanes fell to 33rd-ranked Lander, 8-1 and the men lost 9-0 to the No. 8 Bearcats.
The Lady Hurricanes record drops to 2-5 overall, 0-3 in the PBC while Lander improved to 2-0, 1-0 in PBC play.
The GSW men watch their overall record fall to 2-4 and start 0-2 in PBC. Lander improved to 3-1, 1-0 in conference play.
No. 33 LANDER 8, GSW WOMEN 1
Victoria Ondo picked up her second conference singles win in three days as she rallied from a set down to defeat Ivanka Mocic 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-5). Ondo just missed a personal sweep as she teamed with Carly Cangelosi at No. 1 doubles and lost in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-3).
Sydnee Smith came up just shy of forcing a third set in her match at No. 2 singles where she lost 6-1, 6-4 to Elise Sancelme.
The Lady Hurricanes continue PBC play on Saturday at Montevallo.
No. 8 LANDER 9, GSW MEN 0
The Hurricanes best opportunity for a team point came at No. 1 doubles where Jake Koonce and Steven Blythe lost 8-6 to Adam Jonsson and Loic Minery.
The GSW men resume conference play on Feb. 27 at Georgia Regents.
