Hogg Leads Lady Hurricanes in Opener

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's tennis team opened its 2020 season with a 6-1 loss at Clark Atlanta University on Saturday afternoon.  

The Lady Hurricanes travel to No. 3 Columbus State University on Saturday to open Peach Belt Conference play with a 2 p.m. match.

The No. 1 doubles match went to a tiebreaker before the team of Hannah Hogg and Bianca Leao lost 7-6 (9-7) to Vanessa Eusebio and Alexis Fletcher. Clark Atlanta had already secured the doubles team point with quick wins at No. 2 (6-1) and No. 3 (6-3).

Hogg earned the Lady Hurricanes lone win of the day with her 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Hogg won the decisive tiebreaker 12-10 over Nicola Ramdyhan to get the win. Coraline Lamer went to a match-deciding tiebreaker as well, but suffered a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) heartbreaking loss at No. 2 singles. Hogg and Lamer were the final two courts to complete play as Clark Atlanta won the other four singles matches in straight sets.
