McGarr Leads GSW at Loaded Berry Invite

ROME, Ga. -- Katherine McGarr led the Georgia Southwestern State University women's cross country team at the Berry Invitational Saturday morning. McGarr completed the 6K course in 26:20.16 to finish 83rd out of a season-high 217 competitors that included racers from three NCAA Division I institutions. 

Savannah Ross was the second Lady Hurricane across the finish line, posting a time of 27:55.71 to place 128th. Connie Lewis was the third GSW runner in, placing 151st in 28:52.77.

Grace Regan (30:27.46), Alex Exum (33:05.03) and Nathalie Maralunda (37:55.82) followed for the Lady Hurricanes. 

Finishing with 39 points, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, a NCAA Division I program, took home the team title. The Mocs had six runners finish in the Top 15 of the individual standings to distance themselves from runner-up University of Georgia (65).

Ayuk Brenda from Kennesaw State University crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 22:07.36 to win the event.

Up Next: The Lady Hurricanes return to action Saturday when they head to Milledgeville, Ga., for the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College.
