Lady Hurricanes, Hall Earn USTFCCCA Division II All-Academic Honors

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Freshman women's cross country runner Catherine Hall was named a NCAA DII Women's Cross Country All-Academic Athlete for the 2019 season, announced recently by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Hall, an Engineering and Spanish major from Guyton, Ga., capped her first semester as a collegiate athlete leading the pack in four of the six races for the Lady Hurricanes. She posted a career best and the sixth-fastest 6K time (24:26:9) in GSW history to land herself a spot in the record book while at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. 

Hall is one of the 403 women who were named All-Academic Individuals in NCAA Division II. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.

The Georgia Southwestern women's cross country team was also named an All-Academic Team with a cumulative grade point average of 3.18 as the Lady Hurricanes were one of 148 women's teams. GSW posted a program's best with a seventh place finish at the Peach Belt Conference Championship as they also took home a first place finish at the Willie Laster Meet.

In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
