AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern State University head baseball coach Bryan McLain has announced the signing of Zach Jones from North Paulding High School in Dallas, Ga., to a national letter of intent to play for the Hurricanes in 2017.

Jones, a 5-foot-11 catcher, is a three-year letter winner for the Wolfpack. He helped North Paulding reach the Elite 8 in the 2014 Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA playoffs.

Jones was named 2015 Preseason High School Underclassmen All-American Honorable Mention by Perfect Game. He was selected to the All-Paulding County Team in 2015 and was the North Paulding "Offensive Player of the Year" after leading the Wolfpack in extra base hits and RBIs.

This past summer, Jones hit over .320 playing for Nelson Baseball School out of Kennesaw, Ga.
