Hurricanes Rank Near Top Of Division II

AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern baseball team is well represented in the NCAA Division II stats report released today.

Junior third baseman Alex Kranick ranks second in doubles (14) and trails the category leader by one. Kranick had a streak of seven consecutive games with a two-bagger earlier in the season. The Tampa, Fla., native is batting .290 this spring with 27 RBIs.

Junior outfielder Evan Alderman ranks fourth in walks (28) and trails the category leader by six. Alderman has drawn multiple walks in eight of GSW's 28 games this season, including three free passes in Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader at UNC Pembroke. The Oxford, Ga., native is batting .333 with a .471 on base percentage. Alderman leads the team with 14 stolen bases, which ranks 23rd in the country.

As a team, the Hurricanes sit fifth in Division II in doubles (68), only eight behind second place and 16 behind the leader. GSW has graciously taken 126 walks this spring as well, which ranks 19th overall.

The Hurricanes open a 10-game homestand on Wednesday against Middle Georgia at 5 p.m.
