Summer Ball Wrap Up

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern State University baseball players Dakota Long, Evan Alderman, Zach Barron and Will Redding finished their summer ball seasons all finishing top in their leagues in numerous categories.

Long was a catcher for the Coral Springs Royals, a member of the South Florida Collegiate Baseball League, where he played in all 32 games, recorded 41 hits, 16 runs, six doubles, one home run and 26 RBI's. Long led the Royals with a .347 batting average, in RBI's and was second in home runs for the summer season. He went on to represent the Royals in the 2016 SFCBL All-Star game and finished sixth in the league for RBI's and 15th for batting average.

Alderman, Barron and Redding all played for the Herndon Braves, a member of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

Alderman played in all 40 regular season games, went on to represent the Braves in the All-Star game and appeared in all three postseason games. Alderman recorded a combined 55 hits, 36 runs, six doubles, three triples, three RBI's and led the team with a .371 batting average. He finished second in the league for batting average and tied for sixth for both steals with 15 and walks with 26.

Barron played in 38 regular season games and all three postseason games for the Braves. He recorded 29 hits, 17 runs, five doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI's and a .228 batting average. Barron ranked second on the Braves for both home runs and RBI's for the regular season.

Redding recorded 33 hits, 17 runs, five doubles and one home run during 35 regular season and three postseason games and ranked fifth on the team for batting average with .292. Redding finished the season ranked in the Top-30 in the league for batting average.

All four Hurricanes played major roles in the 2015-16 season. Alderman, Barron and Redding will return to GSW for their senior seasons while Long will be a junior.
