AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University baseball team has been picked to finish 10th in a poll of the Peach Belt Conference head coaches released Friday.

GSW tallied 19 points, receiving one vote for sixth and seventh place, two ninth and six 10th place votes.

Georgia College and UNC Pembroke are the favorites to win the PBC Championship. The Bobcats and Braves both garnered 88 points. North Georgia is third in the voting with 77 points, one ahead of fourth-place USC Aiken.

Columbus State was voted fifth with Flagler sixth and Lander seventh. Augusta came in eighth and Francis Marion sits right in front of the Hurricanes in ninth with Young Harris rounding out the voting.

Brian McLain enters his 14th season as the head coach of the Hurricanes after finishing a 20-29 campaign in 2017 that featured a Peach Belt Conference Tournament appearance, including an 11-10 win over Columbus State in the first elimination game in Florence.  

Outfielder Jonathan Martin returns for the Hurricanes after a stellar freshman season at the plate. Martin hit .373, recorded nine doubles, three triples and three home runs to go with a team-high 39 RBIs. First baseman Jared Jones returns for his senior season after hitting .295 with nine doubles and 38 RBIs in 2017.

Kyle Spinks returns for his senior season on the mound after recording two wins and two losses in 14 starts a year ago. Spinks struck out 47 batters in 66.2 innings pitched in 2017.
