Homecoming was unfortunately not as sweet as the GSW Basketball
had hoped it would be. The Lady Canes fell to the Lady Pacers of
USC-Aiken by a score of 75-33, and the Pacers took a win from the
Hurricanes 89-68.
Coach Kelly Britsky's Lady Canes played a close first half and were
trailing by only 8 going into the locker room, but the Lady Pacers
pulled away in the second half and outscored GSW 42-18. Ivana
Udovalieva and Brittany Reynolds both put in 9 points for the Lady
Canes. Reynolds also pulled down 7 rebounds. Meredith Legg put up
23 points to lead the Lady Pacers, and Avonte Williams added 13
points to the board.
The Hurricanes got off to a slow start in the first half and
trailed 50-31 at halftime, but the second half saw the Canes battle
back to within 7 before the Pacers pulled away to an 89-68 victory.
Aaron Wyatt lead the Hurricanes with 24 points, and Travis Owsley
added 19 points of his own. Anthony Sargent put up a double-double,
scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Chris Commons led
the Pacers with 30 points and 8 rebounds.
Georgia Southwestern travels to Dahlonega, GA on Monday for a
match-up against North Georgia College and State University.
