Georgia College & State University trailed GSW by a point at the half, but early in the second stanza built the lead to 10 and eventually went on to defeat the Hurricanes 71-60 on Wednesday night at the Storm Dome.  

It was a tail of two halves for the Hurricanes defense.  GSW held Georgia College to 38 percent from the floor in the first stanza, but the visitors bumped that number up to 53.6 percent in the second half.  Long-range shooting followed that same pattern as Southwestern held GCSU to 2-of-16 shooting from beyond the arc in the first half, only to see the Bobcats connect on 6-of-10 in the second period with some timely shots down the stretch.   

GSW miscues also contributed to the second half deficit, in which the ‘Canes could get no closer than five points, and GCSU capitalized with a 20-3 points-off-turnovers advantage. The Bobcats also held a 9-2 steals advantage for the game, while over the final 20 minutes GCSU outscored Southwestern 13-3 on second chance points.

Damayrius Adside led the Hurricanes with 10 points. Anthony Sargent, Marcus Scott, Chris Rawls and Ric Roderick each added 9.

Graham Martin led three Bobcats (12-2, 6-2 PBC) in double figures with 20 points. Josh Hurst chipped in 14 and Shaun Keaton scored 12.  

The Hurricanes (7-9, 3-6 PBC) travel to Augusta State on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. game.
