The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team held a one-point
lead (33-32) over 15th-ranked Montevallo at the halftime break, but
was unable to hold on as the Falcons dominated the second half for
a 69-49 win at the Storm Dome on Saturday afternoon.
Montevallo (12-0, 2-0) went on a 22-5 run over the first 10 minutes
of the second half to pull away from the Hurricanes.
UM shot 60 percent from the floor the final period (15-of-25),
while GSW was held to 25 percent (5-of-20).
Chris Rawls led Southwestern with 13 points and nine rebounds.
Tauras Dortch scored 14 points for Montevallo. Cecil Coleman added
13 points and Gerald January chipped in 11.
GSW (4-8, 0-2) travels to Georgia College on Wednesday for a 7:30
game.
