'Canes lose nip and tuck affair at Ft. Valley St.

FORT VALLEY - In a game that saw 17 lead changes, Georgia Southwestern was unable to pick up a road win against Fort Valley State on Saturday evening, falling to the Wildcats, 63-60.
 
Evan Mobley had an opportunity to send the game into overtime for GSW, but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Neither team held a lead of more than seven points.

A 3-point basket by Ric Roderick with 2:23 remaining in the second half gave GSW a three-point advantage, 60-57. Unfortunately, those were the last points scored by the 'Canes.  
 
Chris Rawls led Southwestern with 21 points and a game-high six rebounds. Mobley finished with 17.
 
Darrell Aiken poured in a game-high 26 points for FVSU (1-1). William Hawes added 20.

The Hurricanes made 18-of-46 shots from the floor (39 percent), 18-of-24 free throws (75 percent), and 6-of-13 from behind the 3-point line (46 percent).

FVSU hit 21-of-50 shots (42 percent), 15-of-23 free throws (65 percent), and 6-of-14 from behind the arc (43 percent).

Fort Valley State had a 36-27 edge on the boards and committed 18 turnovers to 17 for GSW.

The Hurricanes (1-3) travel to Valdosta State on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
