GSW  knocks off 19th-ranked Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala.- Earlier this week, the Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team took the 13th-ranked team in the country to overtime in the Storm Dome. On Saturday evening, the Hurricanes went a step further and picked up a win against a ranked team on the road, knocking off No. 19 Montevallo, 65-55.

GSW never trailed and led by as many as 20 points early in the second half.

The Hurricanes jumped on the Falcons early, opening the game with a 22-4 run over a 10-minute span that proved to be the Colin Slotter show as the freshman scored GSW's first nine points and finished the run scoring 13 of the 22. 

GSW led 33-17 at the half.

The Hurricanes shot a blistering 75 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes and never let the Falcons get closer than nine points (with 31 seconds remaining) the rest rest of the way.

Slotter finished with a game-high 18 points, connecting on 4 of 6 three-point attempts. Evan Mobley added 16 points and Phillip Brown chipped in 10.

Antoine Davis and Ryan Westbrooks paced the Falcons with 13 points apiece.

Montevallo (8-3, 1-1 PBC) held a slim 33-30 rebounding advantage and outscored the Hurricane bench, 26-7.  

GSW shot 51.2 percent from the floor for the game, compared to 37.5 percent for UM.
 
The Hurricanes (8-3, 1-1) travel to Georgia College for a 7:30 p.m. matchup on Wednesday.
