The 21st-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team scored seven unanswered points over the the final 1:47 to pull away from a feisty North Georgia squad and win their sixth straight game, 69-60, at the Storm Dome on Wednesday evening. 

The Hurricanes lone lead in the first half came at 3-0 after Trayce Macon opened the contest with a three-pointer.

North Georgia followed with a 12-2 run, capped by a Brody Langston jumper, and opened a 12-5 lead.

The Saints would stretch the margin to a game-high nine points at 31-20 with 1:12 remaining before the break.

A basket by Colin Slotter and a pair of free throws from Evan Mobley helped the Hurricanes cut the NGCSU advantage to five points, 30-25, at halftime.

With a 7-0 run to start the second half, GSW regained the lead, 32-30, with 18:45 to play.

Each side held the lead three times over the next 13 minutes until the Hurricanes grabbed the lead for good at 54-52.

A pair of free throws from Robby Goldsmith with 1:47 remaining pulled the Saints within two, 62-60, but turned out to be the final points from NGCSU on the evening.

Slotter came up with two clutch steals in the final minute, leading to five GSW points, to seal the victory.

GSW finished the game shooting 47.7 percent from the floor while holding North Georgia to 29.9 percent, including 2 of 10 from beyond the arc in the second half.

The Hurricanes outscored NGCSU in the paint, 32-20.

Macon led GSW with a game-high 21 points on 7 of 10 shooting. Slotter was right behind with 20 points on 8 of 10 shooting with four steals and four assists. Phillip Brown, the back-to-back PBC Player of the Week, grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.

Carl Taylor matched Macon with 21 points to lead the Saints (3-11, 0-5 PBC). Clarence Tillman scored 11 and Elijah Smith added 10.

GSW (12-3, 5-1) travels to Columbus State on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. contest with the Cougars.
