AMERICUS, Ga. – The Georgia Southwestern Hurricane men's and women's basketball teams are entering the home stretches of their 2011-2012 seasons. With a majority of their upcoming games being played inside the friendly confines of the Storm Dome, GSW Athletics is calling for reinforcements. There will be not one, not two, but THREE promotions for fans at the upcoming doubleheaders.
Beginning with Sunday's doubleheader versus the UNC Pembroke Braves there will be two treats for fans. The Georgia Southwestern Athletics Department and the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce teamed up this school year to present "Sundaes on Sunday." When GSW soccer, basketball, baseball or softball teams are at home on a Sunday, ice cream sundaes will be served at the game!
Sundaes will be served between the two basketball games near the concessions stand. At all "Sundaes on Sunday" promotions, ice cream will be available to the first 150 fans. So get to the arena early, enjoy some exciting Hurricane action and stay for the sundaes.
Furthermore, Hurricane Athletics is taking on their own spin of popular "White Out" or "Black Out" nights common throughout college athletics. Georgia Southwestern is proud to announce that Sunday, January 29th's match-up against the University of North Carolina Pembroke will be a "Camo Out"! Wear all the camouflage you have to the game and dress united in support of the Hurricanes and Lady 'Canes. (Safety orange is a permissible substitution for traditional camouflage.) With your support and enthusiasm, you can make the ultimate difference as the Georgia Southwestern sixth man because the UNC Pembroke Braves "will never see us coming."
Three days later will be the third and final promotion of the upcoming week. Wednesday, February 1st's match-up against the North Georgia Saints. GSW Athletics is proud to announce next Wednesday's game as "Be a Leeder" night. Fans will be offered cut-out faces of GSW Head Coach Mike Leeder to use to as part of their dress attire. Fans are also encouraged to dress nicely, as Coach Leeder always does, with shirt and tie to complete the Coach Leeder look.
In addition to the great Peach Belt Conference action taking place inside the Storm Dome over the upcoming weeks, these promotions will give fans even more reason to come to Georgia Southwestern and cheer on their Lady 'Cane and Hurricane basketball teams.
