MORROW, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team lost its fourth straight game as Clayton State pulled away over the final 20 minutes after leading, 30-27, at halftime on Saturday afternoon at "The Loch" Athletics Events Center.

The Hurricanes fell to 8-13 overall and 4-10 in the Peach Belt Conference while Clayton State improved to 13-8, 8-6 in PBC play.

The Lakers scored 14 unanswered points during a stretch in the opening session that could have put GSW away early, but the Hurricanes matched Clayton State with 14 unanswered points of their own to regain the lead, 20-17 with 7:22 left before the break. The sides went back and forth with the lead over the next five minutes and the half ended with neither team scoring over the final 2:09 as Clayton State took a three-point advantage into the locker room. 

GSW held its final lead of the afternoon, 34-33, with 16:30 on the clock. Clayton State scored the next six points and eventually stretched the margin to 16 with 4:13 left.   

Southwestern entered the game ranked first in the PBC in 3-point field goal percentage (40.5 percent), but was held to 5 of 18 (27.8 percent) on Saturday.

Chandler Thomas led the Hurricanes with 17 points. Freshman Devin Watson made 4 of 5 shots and scored in double figures for the first time in his collegiate career, finishing with 12 points. Brandon Price added 12 points and Jure Gunjina posted 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds. 

Clayton State had one player score in double figures, Alfonso Davis, with 21 points. Takija Knight pulled down eight rebounds to match Gunjina.

The Hurricanes travel to North Georgia on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Nighthawks.
