Thomas & Thoseby Named PBC All-Academic

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern men's basketball players Chandler Thomas and Adam Thoseby have been named to the 2015-16 Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team.

Thomas, a graduate student from Indianapolis, Ind., is averaging 10.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. The 6-foot-6 forward has appeared in 22 games for the Hurricanes and leads the Peach Belt in field goal percentage at 64.6 percent. Thomas holds a 3.5 GPA as a business administration major.

Thoseby, a graduate student from Melbourne, Australia, leads the Hurricanes in scoring average with 15.5 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding at 5.1 per contest. The 6-foot-6 forward has started all 24 games for the Hurricanes and ranks third in the PBC for 3-point shooting during conference play, knocking down 50.7 percent of his attempts. It has been a good week for Thoseby in regards to Peach Belt accolades as he was named the PBC Player of the Week on Tuesday. Thoseby holds a 3.67 GPA while majoring in computer science.

The All-Academic team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution with the exception being graduate students who are competing at a different institution than the one from which they earned their undergraduate degree. Those graduate students are eligible even if they are in their first semester at the graduate institution. The Peach Belt Sports Information Directors. oversee and select the teams.
