MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team fell behind by 16 points in the first half and could never recover as Auburn Montgomery upended the Hurricanes, 88-63, in a non-conference matchup Tuesday evening in the AUM Gymnasium.

The Hurricanes dropped their third straight game to fall to 1-4 this season, while Auburn Montgomery picked up its first win in seven games.

Paced by 7 of 13 shooting from 3-point range over the opening 20 minutes, the Warhawks took a 39-23 lead into the halftime break.

GSW was unable to get any closer than 14 points (41-27) the rest of the way.     

Auburn Montgomery finished with a lopsided advantage in field goal percentage (53.0-36.0), rebounding (45-23) and second chance points (18-0). The Hurricanes were held without an offensive rebound.

GSW had four of its five starters score in double digits. Devin Watson posted a team-best 13 points and three steals. Corbyn Jackson finished with 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Cameron Dozier added 12 points and Brandon Price chipped in 10.

The Warhawks had four of their five starters score in double digits as well. Darrion Taylor drained 4 of 6 attempts from behind the arc and 8 of 11 shots overall to lead Auburn Montgomery with 22 points. Desmond DeRamus was a rebound shy of a double-double as he finished with 15 points, nine boards and five assists. Julius McCoy scored 15 and Romoane Eager added 12.

The Hurricanes return to action on Dec. 10 with a trip to Atlanta and a meeting with NCAA Division I member Georgia State.
