Former Cane Signs With Top Professional Division in Bosnia and Herzegovina

MOSTAR, Bosnia and Herzegovina -- Former Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball standout Jure Gunjina has signed a professional contract with HKK Zrinjski HT Mostar of the Basketball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Division I). The 27-year old Croatian started this season at KB Rahoveci in Kosovan Superliga. In 10 Superliga games he averaged 14.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Gunjina also played two games in FIBA Europe Cup where he averaged an impressive 16 points, three rebounds and two steals.

Last year Gunjina played at Vestri (Dominos League) in the Icelandic League. In 13 games he was fifth best Icelandic scorer with a remarkable 23.4 points per game, ranked fifth in rebounds at 8.6 per game, and added 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals per contest. Gunjina helped Vestri make it to the semifinals. 

Gunjina has played professionally in Spain (Magia Huesca and Alcazar) and the United Kingdom (Newcastle Eagles) as well.

His collegiate career included one season (2015-16) at Georgia Southwestern where he made 24 starts and averaged 14 points, 6.4 rebounds and three assists.
