Hurricanes Come Up Just Short at Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The Georgia Southwestern men's basketball team was defeated on the road by the Flagler College Saints. The Hurricanes hung in there in the first half. The scoring for both teams was evenly distributed throughout, with the Hurricanes holding the Peach Belt's leading scorer to just four points. The Saints held a seven-point lead at the halftime break.

In the second half, the Hurricanes got hot from three shooting 80% from beyond the arc. GSW in the second was led by Donte Tatum who went three for four from three and made six of 11 from the field. The Hurricanes once again held the Peach Belt's leading scorer to just four points in the second and were tied with the Saints with 1:20 left in the game. A couple of late turnovers doomed the Hurricanes' chances for an upset. The Saints went up four with 10 seconds left but a foul on a three-point shot with four seconds left let Jarrett Adderton bring the game back within one. An intentional foul and two made free throws gave the Hurricanes a halfcourt heave to send it into overtime. The shot just tipped off the rim giving the Saints a three-point win.

The Hurricanes return to the Storm Dome on Saturday evening to take on the USC Aiken Pacers in their second matchup of the season.
