Top-Seeded USC Aiken Escapes the Clutches of GSW in PBC Quarterfinal

AUGUSTA, Ga.– The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team was unable to close out an upset victory over the top seed USC Aiken in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon in the George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse and suffered a 71-70 season-ending defeat.

GSW held a two-point lead with 13 seconds remaining until the Pacers drilled a 3-pointer from the right corner to regain the advantage in what was a back-and-forth affair that saw 14 lead changes. The Hurricanes had an opportunity to win the game, but were unable to convert a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds on the clock and USC Aiken grabbed the final rebound to advance to the semifinals.

Jaylen Jordon was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and led GSW with 15 points. Reggie Raynor posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Phillip Burwell and Jordan Johnson added 13 points apiece. Burwell dished out five assists.
