Two Canes Record Career Highs In a 76-73 Loss To Lander

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team lost, 76-73, at Lander University on Saturday afternoon.

Christian Koonce recorded a career high 20 points making seven of his 12 shots he also hauled in a career high eight rebounds. Koonce has recorded double digit points in three consecutive games he was also on of two GSW players to record a career high. Tim Hall Jr. recorded a new career high in points after recording a career high in his last game on Jan. 3 Hall had 13 points he hit on four of his nine shot attempts he also collected six rebounds in the game. Jordan Johnson was the final Canes player to record a double figure score with 11 points, and three rebounds. Johnson has been on a scoring tear he has scored in double figures in four of his last five games. 

The Bearcats (10-2, 2-0 PBC) had the momentum in the first half of the game as they lead by as much as 10 points, but the Hurricanes showed resolve and outscored Lander in the second half but it was not enough to usher a comeback.

  • GSW shot the ball 71 times which ties for the ninth most shots in school history. That comes after recording 74 field goal attempts against Flagler on Wednesday.
