GSW finishes 5th at opening spring tourney

POOLER - The Georgia Southwestern golf team finished fifth out of 11 schools at the 10th Annual Armstrong Atlantic State University Pirate Invitational on Tuesday at Savannah Quarters Golf Club.

J.P. Griffin shot a 73 on Tuesday for the Hurricanes low-round of the day and ended the invitational tied for 11th out of 65 participants. The GSW team shot a three-round total of 913.

Flagler (876) led after Day 1 and held on for a four-stroke win over host Armstrong Atlantic. UNC Pembroke (902) and Mount Olive (909) finished ahead of GSW.

Joel Dahlenburg of Flagler shot a 211 (69-69-71) to finish 1-over par for the top individual performance.

Nate Gahman finished a stroke behind Griffin with a 225 (76-73-76) for GSW. John Wilson Gordon, shot a 228 (75-75-78) to tie for 19th place. Rounding out the scoring for the 'Canes was Craig Gibson and Reese Moseley with scores of 236 (75-79-82) and 244 (77-79-88), respectively.
