GSW in middle of pack after Day 1 in Miami

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team shot rounds of 295 and 299 on Monday to finish Day 1 of the Buccaneer Invitational in 9th place out of 14 teams at the par-71, 6,733-yard Normandy Shores Golf Club.

J.P. Griffin led the 'Canes with a 4-over 146 and is tied for 26th place in the 81-player field.

Barry teammates Daniel Stapff and Chris Carlin are No. 1 and 2, respectively, with scores of 5-under and 4-under.

Host Barry University is atop the team standings with a 9-under 559. Fourth-ranked West Florida is seven strokes behind with a 556. 

Craig Gibson and Nate Gahman are both 7-over and tied for 42nd for GSW. Reese Moseley follows, a stroke behind Gibson and Gahman, with a 150 (76-74). John Wilson Gordon posted a 169 (83-86).

The Hurricanes return to the links this morning for the final round of the Buccaneer Invite.
