GSW finishes 8th at Bearcat Golf Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team was unable to duplicate its stellar Day 1 performance in the final round of the Second Annual Lander Bearcat Golf Classic on Tuesday and finished eighth out of 17 schools in the tournament.

Craig Gibson paced the 'Canes with a 12th-place individual finish and a final score of 2-under at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.

Southwestern finished 10 strokes behind team champion UNC Pembroke. Runner-up Carson-Newman finished a stroke behind UNCP with a score of 575.

Joe Young of Georgia College won the individual title with a 6-under 138.

Nate Gahman shot GSW's low round on Tuesday with a 73 and tied for 13th overall in the 90-player field. J.P. Griffin finished at even par for the tournament after shooting a 74 on Day 2. John Wilson Gordon finished with a two-day total of 158 to tie for 84th place and Reese Moseley posted a pair of 81s to finish at 18-over.

The Hurricanes return to the links on Apr. 4 in Miami for the first round of the Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Barry University.
