GSW golfers fare well in summer qualifiers

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern golfers Nate Gahman and J.P. Griffin qualified for the 2011 Georgia Amateur Championship on Friday morning with scores of 69 and 72, respectively, at Doublegate Country Club in Albany. Gahman, a Second Team All-Peach Belt Conference selection this spring, earned medalist honors at the 44-player event with his 3-under par round.

The Georgia Amateur Championship, a Georgia State Golf Association event, will be held July 7-10 at Cherokee Town and Country Club in Atlanta.

Senior Chris Hall and Hurricane head coach Andrew Danna both qualified for the YAMAHA Atlanta Open earlier this week. Qualifying rounds were held at four locations throughout the Peach State. Hall shot a 76 on June 6 at The Frog Golf Club in Villa Rica. Danna finished third at the Eagle's Landing Country Club qualifier with a 1-over 73 on June 2 in Stockbridge.

The YAMAHA Atlanta Open, a Georgia PGA event, will be held June 13-14 at The Frog Golf Club.
