GSW takes 4th at Alabama State event

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Georgia Southwestern golf team finished in fourth place out of eight teams earlier this week at the Alabama State University Fall Golf Classic at Lagoon Park Golf Course.

Craig Gibson led the Hurricanes and finished runner-up in the 54-player field with a 4-over-par 148. Nate Gahman finished in the top 10 with a two-round total of 151.

J.P. Griffin fired a pair of 77s to end the tournament tied for 19th and Chris Hall finished a stroke behind Griffin to take 21st place. Travis Oestermann tied Griffin for the team's second-lowest round (77) on Day 2 and carded a two-round total of 160.

Southwestern finished 13 strokes behind host Alabama State and 11 shots behind runner-up Faulkner University.

The Hurricanes host the one-round Robert Trent Jones Grand National Challenge in Opelika, Ala. on Saturday.
